Portrait of Kerry Ragbir

Patient story

"I was looking in the mirror and seeing my father's future."

Dr. Kerry Ragbir — 45 at the time, dentist and Navy veteran

His father had a heart attack at 45 and needed a triple bypass. Kerry was now the same age, 220 pounds, and being told by the system that he was fine.

At 45, Dr. Kerry Ragbir was looking in the mirror and seeing his father's future. His dad had suffered a heart attack at 45 and needed triple bypass surgery. Kerry was now the same age, 220 pounds, exhausted, overworked, and living with the quiet fear that he was walking the same path.

As a Navy veteran and busy dentist running a high-demand practice, Kerry's life looked successful on the outside. Inside it was a different story: long days, constant stress from patients, staff, insurance and business pressures, no real exercise routine, poor eating habits, low energy, and a creeping sense of depression and burnout.

He tried to do the right things on his own. He started working out. He adjusted his diet. A friend suggested checking his testosterone, which came back extremely low. Hormone therapy helped his mood and energy, but the weight and the deep concern about his heart barely budged.

Despite normal stress tests and being told "you're fine" by the insurance-based system, Kerry didn't feel fine. With his family history and symptoms, he wanted real answers, not reassurance. That's when a trusted provider referred him to ClearCardio.

Kerry decided to make a significant investment in his health as a birthday present to himself. He understood this wasn't an insurance product — it was care. At ClearCardio he underwent advanced cardiac CT imaging combined with AI analysis to look at his arteries in microscopic detail.

For the first time, he saw the truth about his heart. The scan revealed early but meaningful plaque buildup and vulnerable soft plaque that could rupture without warning. Kerry wasn't having chest pain. His stress test had been normal. But his arteries told a different story — one that looked uncomfortably similar to his father's.

Together with ClearCardio, Kerry started a fully personalized program: precision imaging and AI to map his plaque; optimization of his medications, including advanced cholesterol-lowering therapy; one-on-one nutrition coaching with weekly food photo check-ins; and a practical, sustainable movement plan built around what he actually enjoyed — walking, pickleball, strength training and gym cardio he could realistically stick to. Simple accountability systems helped, like a weekly Sharpie grid on his bathroom mirror to track cardio, steps, sports, nutrition and planning.

Over the next year, Kerry didn't chase perfection. He executed consistently. The results were dramatic. On repeat scanning, his most dangerous soft, lipid-rich plaque had dropped by nearly 30%. The highest-risk type of plaque fell by about two-thirds. His arteries showed less narrowing and less dangerous remodeling. The unstable "lava" plaque had been converted into stable, calcified "cinder cone" plaque that is far less likely to rupture.

On the outside, Kerry transformed as well. He went from 220 pounds down to 175, then rebuilt to a lean, strong 180. His energy surged. He started walking regularly, playing pickleball, lifting weights, and planning his weeks around health instead of squeezing it in when convenient. He even redesigned his dental practice, inspired by ClearCardio, to be more preventive, more tech-enabled and less dictated by insurance.

Today, as he approaches 50, Kerry says he feels as good as he did in his 20s — and he's still improving. He has objective proof that his plaque is reversing rather than silently progressing, a sustainable lifestyle he enjoys and can model for his wife and children, and a trusted long-term relationship with a cardiologist who knows him, his data and his goals.

In Kerry's words, ClearCardio didn't just change his numbers. It changed his trajectory. He no longer fears reliving his father's story. He's writing his own.
